but is funny to have colorchanging powers

  4. We all know how Disney uses classic pieces of art as inspiration for their concept art, and I think it’s ok because that’s how art has always worked, learning from the past, copying and making interpretations of other artist they admire. No one says Francis Bacon is a plagiator after he painted this

    image

This in art is called appropriationism, and is not plagiarism. It’s a way of learning because first, they are not copies, it’s easy to see the defference. And second, because the second one doesn’t mean in any way that the original artist, Diego de Velazquez, won’t get the recognition for his work.

It happens the same with the fan art. When you draw fanart of famous characters you are not taking the original owner anything. But then there is Disney complaining about how people steals their characters in the mass media. I could understand that they could be ofended if people makes money of they characters edited from their movies and even traced… BUT DISNEY DOES THE SAME

In the concept art or Tangled they showed how they took as reference The swing by Fragonard, you can see they are different even if they look similar. But in Frozen they litterally traced Alphonse Mucha, they didn’t even changed the crown.

    image

It gets me so mad because Disney had threatened some artist that worked for them in the past asking them to give them for free the sketches they did at home IN THIR FREE TIME. It’s ok that the character belongs to Disney but the sketches belongs to them and the company is not the owner of what they draw out of their work time.

Also Disney keeps complaining about fans tracing their characters just for fun and for learning while they do the same. (let’s see it slow)

    I call that hypocrisy.

now I don’t know what kind of clothes could I draw… please suggestiosn… (I would feel weird drawing a 13 year old naked… even if it’s me is not the same as drawing a fictional character you know…)
